Leather-covered boxes
the art of covering
Covering dresses a rigid structure in leather, paper or fabric to create an exceptional case. It is a workshop craft, close to bookbinding, that gives corners, hinges and interiors a flawless finish. Esprit du Luxe designs and has leather-covered boxes made for watchmaking, jewellery and collectors' items: full-grain covering, stitching, velvet or leather interiors, bespoke clasps and hinges.
Each box is designed around the object it holds, from the insert to handling in store, then validated with a prototype before manufacturing.
What we make
Leather-covered boxes for watches and jewellery, collectors' boxes with trays, cases for unique pieces in haute horlogerie and high jewellery, boxes for pens, works of art and instruments, presentation cases for fairs and auctions, covered archive boxes for precious documents.
Materials and finishes
Wooden or heavy board structures, full-grain leather, creative paper, fabric or premium leather-effect covering, velvet, suede-effect, satin or leather interiors, sculpted inserts, stitching, turned edges, bespoke clasps, hinges and metal plates, hot foil stamping, inlays.
Eco-design
A covered box is a long-lasting object, passed on with the piece it protects. We favour recycled board or certified wood structures, traceable leathers or paper coverings, solvent-free glues and inserts without plastic foam. The durability of the object remains the first ecological choice.
From brief to delivery
Study with your design and retail teams, drawing of the structure and inserts, choice of materials on samples, prototype in a covering workshop to validate proportions, opening and fit. Manufacturing with a partner workshop chosen for this craft, piece-by-piece inspection, secure delivery.
Quantities, lead times and budget
From a unique piece to a collection series. Covering takes workshop time; lead times are set in the quotation together with the prototype phase. For a series, we optimise the structure and the operations without touching the quality of the visible finish.
Who we work with
Haute horlogerie and high jewellery houses, galleries and auction houses, art publishers, collectors, luxury brands launching an exceptional piece. Esprit du Luxe designs these boxes from Geneva.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a covered box and a printed box?
Covering dresses a rigid structure in a material (leather, paper, fabric) with corners and edges worked in the workshop, for a long-lasting object. A printed box is board wrapped in printed paper, better suited to series.
Do you make unique pieces?
Yes, from a case for a unique piece to a small collection series, with a validation prototype.
What lead times should we expect?
Covering takes workshop time. The calendar is set in the quotation with the prototype phase; we advise anticipating launches.
