Watch boxes
bespoke watch presentation boxes

The watch box is the first physical contact between a watchmaking house and its client. Before the watch even appears, the box announces the standard of the brand: the weight in the hand, the silence of the opening, the material under the fingers. Esprit du Luxe designs bespoke watch presentation boxes in Geneva, made with selected technical partners in Switzerland and Europe.

We work for manufactures and independent brands, for permanent collections as well as limited editions. Each box is drawn for the model it will hold, then validated with a prototype before production.

01

What we make

Lidded or drawer presentation boxes, collectors' boxes with several compartments, compact travel boxes, boxes for straps and setting tools, event cases for a launch or an auction. We also design the outer packaging (sleeve, protective case, matching carrier bag) and the documents that travel with the piece: certificate, booklet, warranty card.

02

Materials and finishes

Rigid board or wooden structure, leather, textured paper or fabric covering, velvet, microfibre or leather interior, foam insert or cushion. Finishes follow the codes of the brand: hot foil stamping, blind embossing, multi-level embossing, screen printing, laser cutting, bespoke clasps and hinges. We work with a wide range of recycled papers and materials without giving up perceived quality.

03

Eco-design

A watch box is kept for years, so it has to be built to last. We favour mono-material structures where the project allows, certified or recycled papers and boards, organic inks, solvent-free glues and plastic-free inserts. Volume and weight matter too: a more compact box means less material and less transport, for an object that remains just as desirable.

04

From brief to delivery

Everything starts with an in-depth preliminary study with your teams: how the box will be used, the constraints of the watch, budget, calendar. We then draw the structure, propose materials and produce a zero-series mock-up or a 3D prototype to validate shape, insert and opening. Manufacturing is entrusted to the most relevant partner for the project; we follow production, quality control and delivery, with a single contact from start to finish.

05

Quantities, lead times and budget

We produce small numbered series as well as regular volumes for a permanent collection. Minimum quantities depend on the materials and finishes chosen and are stated at the study stage. Lead times are set in the quotation and include prototyping time, essential for an object of this value. Cost optimisation is part of the mission: choice of structure, grouping of runs, alternative materials.

Who we work with

Watch manufactures, independent brands, haute horlogerie workshops, retailers and auction houses. From Geneva, at the heart of Swiss watchmaking, Esprit du Luxe supports established houses and young brands, in Switzerland and abroad. Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum quantity for a bespoke watch box?

It depends on the structure and finishes. A leather-covered case can be produced in very small series, while a printed board box needs a larger run to keep the unit cost reasonable. We state the thresholds at the first study.

How much time should we allow?

Count the time for the study, the prototype and production. The prototype usually takes a few weeks; production varies with the partner and the materials. The full calendar is set in the quotation. We advise anticipating launches and the festive season.

Can you improve an existing box?

Yes. We often start from a box already in use to reduce its weight, remove plastic, improve the insert or change a supplier, without altering what the client recognises.
