MARCH LA.B
a book sewn with green thread
For the French watch house MARCH LA.B, Esprit du Luxe oversaw the making of a book: grained green cover, hot foil stamped logo, sections sewn with green thread.
Green, the colour of the brand, connects the cover, the binding and the pages.
The brief
To present the watches and the world of MARCH LA.B in a book that resembles the brand: an object to keep, with large images and visible craftsmanship.
The constraint
A binding that opens flat for photographic double pages, a sewing thread dyed in the colour of the brand, sharp stamping on a grained material.
The process
Cover dressed in a grained green material, creased by hand in the workshop. Logo hot foil stamped in gold. Sections sewn with green thread left visible in the fold. We were present in the workshop for the stamping trials, then for the set-up of the sewing.
The result
A book in which the green thread is discovered as the pages turn, a manufacturing detail that has become part of the story.
